About Danlie Rae

Hailed by Opera Canada magazine as baritone possessing “a warm lower resonance [and] a brilliant top end,” and praised for being a gifted comedic actor, Filipino-Canadian baritone Danlie Rae Acebuque is quickly making his mark in the operatic world. Danlie Rae earned his Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and Masters of Music in Opera at the University of Toronto under the tutelage of Frédérique Vézina. Danlie Rae was also the inaugural recipient of The Ivan Chorney Opera Scholarship, the Encouragement Award at The Laffont Competition - Oregon District and an Audience Choice Award at The Laffont Competition - Western Canada District.

In 2023 - 2025, Danlie Rae was a member of the Yulanda M. Faris Young Artist program with Vancouver Opera where he understudied the roles of Papageno in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Malatesta in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, Falke in Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus, Steward in Dove’s Flight, debuted the role of Morales in Bizet’s Carmen and successfully jumped in as Sharpless in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly with only minutes noticed.

This season, Danlie Rae is a member of the Edmonton Opera and Opera On The Avalon’s Emerging Artist Programs.
